Brothers & Sisters

The building that is home to Tagore's and PASS "Live-Stage" has been put on the market. The owners & management of this wondrous establishment do not want to sell, but had to place it on the market as the bank is urgently calling. ...it must not fall into unmusical hands!

We are crowd-funding on a very direct level by addressing Tagore’s first and foremost friends. Be assured that funds raised will only be channelled to the sole purpose of keeping Tagore’s in Obs and nothing else! Just think of it, Rabindranath Tagore, poet, first Non-European winner of the Nobel Prize, and generally regarded as a most outstanding creative, was also the father of cooperative farms, stores & banks in India.

“This would be a travesty, a betrayal to all things soulful, spiritual and free, a betrayal to the great poet himself. Besides, where the hell will I go next time I'm in Cape Town and craving that sweet musical madness?...” said one of our loyal visitors from Amsterdam upon hearing the news “..you all know what I'm talking about, that eccentric late-night portal to musical togetherness..." As you've been there and know the scene, then you'll appreciate that Observatory, Cape Town, South Africa, Africa, the World cannot afford to loose this cradle of music.

We Can Make it Happen

The reason why? Oldman Tagore’s is “broke”: He has been entertaining his guests free of charge over the years. He pays all artists, staff and other costs out of his own pocket (i.e: the till & sometimes owner/management dig deep!) and as you all know only a limited number of guests can attend on any given night. By removing the burden of rent/bond we will be able to provide even better service to you & direct more to artists/performers as well as hire additional help to keep the vibes right. (job creation, hint, hint...)

Nobody likes to talk about money but the fact of the matter is, old man Tagore’s might be homeless soon. But luckily he is rich in other ways; he is wise & far-seeing and has many friends, more than 2,500 world-wide of which are on Facebook. He knows that in the long run it's not about the money and not about who owns Tagore’s, it belongs to all of us... and so old man Tagore has an idea which needs you to make it happen!
